Graffiti in a Traditional Sense is Criminal

Graffiti, that is vandalism by marking or drawing on private property is immoral and outright wrong. This is not to be confused with graffiti-styled authorised artwork which can be beautiful. In fact, I've bought some Banksy prints myself - I know a good artist when I see one!
However, intentionally disfiguring a public area is a selfish, childish, and ignorant display of ones lack of respect for others. Graffiti is illegal for a good reason, its vandalism, just as if someone were to break a window with a rock. Tagging, a form of graffiti where the "artist" scribbles a signature "tag" is even more annoying as it tends to be very common since zero skill level is involved and a permanent marker is much cheaper then a can of spray paint. I believe that the vast majority of graffiti artists eventually grow up and use their skills in a more moral and productive way. Others should face criminal charges that are equal to other types of vandalism. Graffiti-styled artwork can be impressive when properly displayed, and is just as respectable as any other form of artwork, and therefore has the potential to be quite beautiful.
